CLARICE CLIFF worked in the late 1920 and during the 1930's for the Royal Staffordshire Pottery, A.J Wilkinson Ltd.The design " RURAL SCENES" consisted of different motifs and is one of her earliest and very sought after designs. Her design style changed completely in later years. Rural Scenes shows very detailed scenes of the english country-side beautifully painted in shades of brown, orange and green, ressembling the paintings of the old masters.The Tea set that is for sale shows a romantic traditional english farm house set in lush green vegetation and big trees. In front of the farmhouse are cows and chicken. There is a hen -house as well and the farmer is feeding the chicken.This set consists of 21 pieces. The condition of the set is very good but there is minor age wear in several places. It consists of: 6 cups ( 3 in very good condition without damage, 3 have crazing in the glaze ), 6 saucers ( all saucers are in very good condition without damage, sugar bowl which is in very good condition.
